Your paper should have an introductory paragraph identifying the main topics the paper focuses on and how they relate to class concepts. Your introduction should map out your paper.

In the body of the paper you should summarize those aspects of the ethnography that you have found most interesting, and would like to share with the class, but this paper is not a book report. Most important, your paper should explicitly relate aspects of your ethnography to some of the concepts in class. In your paper, you should be sure to fully explain the class concepts that you relate to your ethnography, and how your ethnographic example(s) are similar and/or different to the concept or category described in class. When introducing a concept raised in class, you should clearly define it, and cite your source. Your paper should have full in-text citations that cite class readings e.g. (Robbins 2011:42) or our class meetings, e.g. (Bass 2/14/20). When making a claim about your book, reference in your paper the relevant page number in parentheses, e.g. (Schlegel: 42), that supports your claim. The paper should have 1-inch margins and be in 12-point Times New Roman font.

Your paper should have well focused paragraphs with topic sentences. Ideally you should have a friend read over the paper to catch typos and make sure that all the arguments and passages make sense. Late papers are graded down a quarter letter grade for each day they are late.

You can download the whole book, but you can only print out or copy/paste 100 pages. I suggest that as you read the eBook you take notes in your class notebook on the anthropological concepts from class that you can apply to the book.
