Write a paper in which you discuss the need for Prison Reform in the United States with focus on the African American or minority population.

1. Place your last name and page # in the upper right corner of each page, ½ inch from the top
border
2. The first page of the paper: Place your name in the top – left-hand margin, followed by your
Professor’s name, the course number, and the date the paper is due.
3. Center the title of your paper. A good title should tell the reader what the paper is about.
Double-space throughout the entire paper.
4. Margins are 1- inch left, right, and bottom
5. The Thesis Statement appears in its conventional position, at the end of the first paragraph
6. Remember, if you summarize a source, you must give credit to that work in the paper and then
the full account of the article or book, in your work-cited page.
7. DO NOT PLAGIARISE!! It is illegal and you will receive an “F” for the paper and the course!!

8. Center the title, Works Cited. This should be the page that shows all the sources that are used in
your paper.
9. Arrange sources alphabetically by the author’s last name, or if there is no author, by the first
word in the citation.
10. Indent each source 1 inch from the border, double space, and indent the second and
consecutive lines ½ inch
11. Include the medium of each source: print, Web, CD, DVD, television, film, email, etc.
12. PLEASE edit your paper by reading it through, and making necessary changes before turning it
in!
