Tanya: I wanted to add my two cents onto your post where you stated “There are two ways of carrying out managerial communication, depending on the medium and the target audience. There is downward communication where the management communicated with the juniors and the upward interface where the employees communicate to the management.” There is actually a third component that is called “lateral communication” — this is where you have “peer-to-peer” communication happening. So, you would have managers performing upward and downward communication and the employees performing lateral communication.

Hi Josh,
Thanks for your insights here. As you mentioned, tone and non verbal expressions are important in a conversation. Depending on your surrounding audience, you can have a 3rd party person get offended or even form an impression on how you are based on your actions with the primary person. It still amazes me how someone who is not apart of the conversation, not knowing the entire content on why you responded that way, can still get offended.
