Policy Research Proposal PowerPoint Instructions
This assignment is a culmination of your Discussion Board Forums. You will create a PowerPoint presentation that proposes a research project on a policy topic. Your presentation must have slides that cover all of the following information:
• Purpose Statement
• Research Questions/Hypotheses/Null Hypothesis
• Research Design
• Significance of the Study
• Problem Statement
• Sample
• Setting/Site
• Data Collection Methods
• Data Analysis Methods
• Trustworthiness/Reliability/Validity
• Ethical Considerations
In this presentation, you must elaborate on what you wrote in your Discussion Board Forums regarding the items above. Presentations may make use of bullet points, but you must include explanatory paragraphs in the notes section of PowerPoint. What must be included in the notes section is what you would say if you were presenting this research proposal to a boss, educator, or the interested public sponsoring the research. The goal of this presentation is to communicate your policy research proposal to an audience. It must be long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep the attention of the audience. Please take into account any and all constructive criticisms offered by your classmates and instructor throughout the Discussion Board Forums.
Submit your Policy Research Proposal PowerPoint by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module/Week 8.

Research Question: Unemployment in US – does unemployment insurance play any role in the prevention of unemployment related depression?
Research Design:
The research question takes in consideration an important topic to be considered and researched about i.e. unemployment in U.S. It has been suggested in the annotated bibliographies that the government provides unemployment insurance to the unemployed people in US. Another factors constantly been linked with unemployment is that f depression among the unemployed youth in US. The government had given this insurance to the unemployed people as a solace so that they do not feel left out and stay mentally healthy. Thus, the proposed research design for this would be to analyze the mental health condition of all the unemployed youth both with and without unemployment insurance. It has also been observed through research that some people did not receive the UI and thus did not seek medical care until it was very late. Thus, it becomes necessary to study the link between the UI and depression among the unemployed youth.
This research design was chosen over others as there is a lot of data about unemployment association with UI and unemployment with depression but no link of these three together. It becomes important to understand that how the rate of unemployment, UI and depression are linked so that the appropriate measures can be taken for the prevention of any bad outcomes. This research design would help in the understanding if UI provides any type of mental relief to the unemployed people or not. Also, the government might think of new ideas to prevent further depression rates among the unemployed youth.
Significance of the Study:
Unemployment or the lack of sufficient jobs is an ongoing problem in the US since the great depression which has serious effects on the people. Many studies have been published that have studied the reasons and solutions for this problem of unemployment. The government also tries to reduce the rate by introduction of new measures and UI is one of them. But the data on the rates of depression due to unemployment is not sufficient and thus this side gets neglected many-a-times as said by Eisman (2015). Thus, this research design would help the government to help in the analysis of the provisions given by them to the unemployed people and how to improve the situation. Also, there are no studies that have studied the link between unemployment, UI and depression and thus this one would be helpful.
Depression has become very common these days and it causes an economic burden on the government. Thus, government continues to take regular preventive and treatment measures for the same. Unemployment is directly linked with depression as the feeling of neglect and being of no use is one of the main factors that can cause mental illness like depression mentioned Kaufman (2017). Hence, the study like this one would allow the government to look at the problems of unemployment and depression with a new perspective and would ultimately help the youth. Awareness about the topic helps in the further analysis and solution.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this grounded theory study is to understand long term reduction in rate for youth unemployment( between 16-24 years at United States. At this stage in the research, factors that lead to have positive impacts on rate of youth employment in United States can be generally defined as deriving from policy decisions / government interventions and various macroeconomic and other external factors. This study shall aim to determine, analyze, and review all of the relevant factors, and on the basis of the analysis, develop a framework encompassing macroeconomic, government, and policy level factors that could in effectively managing rate of unemployment in United States.
Problem Statement
Unemployment specifically among younger population in any country is a highly adversarial factor as younger population represent the future generation and one who have higher potential towards productivity, innovation and nation building(Bown& Freund, 2019; Schoon&Bynner, 2019). An adverse rate in youth unemployment could lead to long term impacts that could cripple a nation. The findings and outcome of this study can aid in addressing this problem area.
Sample
The sample for the study shall concern independent, conservative, and libertarian economic and public policy experts who have expertise in youth unemployment specific to the United States context.
Setting / Site
The setting or site of the sample shall be from the United States population.

Abraham,
Your sample needs work. There’s no need to only include independent, conservative, and libertarian policy experts. Why wouldn’t you just ask the youth themselves their experiences with seeking and finding jobs? Furthermore, why would you exclude liberals and others from your study? This makes no sense in its current form. The sample needs to be reworked. Your setting also cannot be the entire U.S. population. How will you conduct your study? Surveys? Focus Groups? Let that inform your setting/site.

Part 3
Data Collection Methods
The methods that shall be employed for collecting data for this shall be as follows – [1] exploratory study to collect secondary data pertaining to macroeconomic, government, and policy level factors that could in effectively managing rate of unemployment in United States by way of relevant journal / academic articles, text books, publications, statistics, and other reliable reports, and [2] open ended interview study with sample size of 20 participants who shall be randomly selected from the population of independent, conservative, and libertarian economic and public policy experts who have expertise in youth unemployment specific to the United States context to determine government and policy level decisions that had a positive impact on the rate of youth unemployment in United States, changes un external environmental factors that had a positive impact on the rate of youth unemployment in United States, and possible factors that could in effectively managing rate of unemployment in United States in the future(Sutton & Austin, 2015; Bernard et al., 2016).
Data Analysis Methods
The analysis of the secondary as well as primary data collected by way of the above stated exploratory study and open-ended interview study respectively shall be analysis by using critical and comprehensive analysis of qualitative nature to address the research questions identified and finally developing the framework encompassing macroeconomic, government, and policy level factors that could in effectively managing rate of unemployment in United States(Sutton & Austin, 2015; Bernard et al., 2016).
Trustworthiness / Reliability / Validity
This study is undertaken completely as a qualitative study using both qualitative primary data and qualitative secondary data. Given the subjective nature of qualitative date, there potential concerns of validity and generalizability of the findings made using this approach. In this context to ensure the findings are valid, reliable, trustworthy, and generalizable, the sample size of 15 economic experts offers rigidity, diversity, and comprehensiveness to weed any possibility of these concerns.

Abraham,
As I’ve said in previous posts, it’s unclear why you are focusing on only specific ideologies. You should not be doing this. If your final PowerPoint is written in this way, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, for you to pass that assignment. This is not an ideological question you’re raising, so ideology should not play any role in who you survey.
Secondary data collection as you’re describing here is a literature review, not an original research proposal. Remove that discussion and focus instead on describing in detail the surveys you will conduct and then how you will analyze those results
