COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
– Identify methods to reduce errors in the management and administration of medication
– Understand all the drugs administered by the emergency care practitioner at the relevant scope of practice
– Explain the principles of drug dose calculations and its administration.
BACKGROUND:
“Across healthcare, organizations are increasingly focused on improving patient safety. Yet in the prehospital setting, there is a paucity of information about the safety of care, in spite of the well-known and documented idiosyncrasies. One component of prehospital care that is particularly understudied, yet highly influential to patient safety is medication administration.”
