The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with a number of different definitions. There are no assigned readings for this week or this assignment. Instead, you have to do your own, independent research, and learn about the meaning of entrepreneurship from various different sources that you deem to be reliable and high quality (not politically biased, for example). Good sources of information would be, for example, entrepreneurship textbooks (you can access these in your local library or the school library), magazine articles from magazines that focus on entrepreneurship (such as Entrepreneur magazine, Forbes, Inc, Fast Company), blog posts by reputable authors and entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship-focused organizations such as the Kauffman Foundation or the Small Business Administration and their Small Business Development Centers. Your paper should cover at least the following: Provide at least two different definitions of entrepreneurship from different sources. Do not use the one provided in the syllabus for this class. Your definitions have to be substantially different from each other, not just different wordings of the same idea. For each definition, make sure to cite the exact source (see below instructions on citing according to the APA style). For each definition, give an example of an entrepreneur that is a stereotypical representative of this definition. You can use widely known entrepreneurs as examples, or people from your own network. Explain why this entrepreneur, in your opinion, is a good example of the definition of entrepreneurship you provide. Compare and contrast the definitions with each other. Pick your “favorite” definition of the ones you provide, and explain why you like it the best. Please see the scoring rubric inside this link for details on how this paper will be scored. General formatting instructions that apply to all individual papers in this class: Submit your word document (no other formats allowed) through the assignment link on BB by the assignment deadline. The paper has to be a minimum of one page, and can be a maximum of two pages long. It is graded based on content, not length. Use 1 inch margins on all sides, 12-point font (Calibri or Times New Roman), and 1.5 line-spacing throughout. Do not leave extra space between paragraphs. Please remember that each assignment is graded for content and if your paper is very short, you may not have included enough content. All individual papers require that you use outside sources of information in your write-up. Whenever you use outside ideas, quotations, data, or other information in your text, you NEED TO CITE THE SOURCE. For citations style and listing the references, use the APA (American Psychological Association) style. You should be familiar with this style from your basic English classes.
