The Trade war between the US and China

The global economy has witnessed the ongoing trade war between China and the US. You are asked to write an essay to critically discuss the economic impacts of the China-US trade war. This essay topic is open. You can select a specific aspect from this theme, e.g. the impacts of the trade war on the Chinese economy/China’s financial system/the Chinese firms/China’s export (the trade imbalance) or anything that is related to China’s economy and its financial system.

For this essay, you are required to

• Briefly discuss the background of the China-US trade war.

• Identify the research topic that you are addressing in the essay. With regard to the impacts you are writing about, the channels through which the trade war affects China’s economy should be explicitly identified and discussed.

• Provide a summary of what you found in the essay and provide a discussion of policy implications (future economic relations) and recommendations.
