Background: Some people don’t believe that homelessness and poverty can strike them. How does this happen? Did this/could this happen to you? You work hard; do the right thing. Sometimes, all it takes is one life-changing experience to land you on the streets: a job loss, death of a loved one, divorce, natural disaster, or serious illness. Next thing you know, a chain of events sends things spiraling out of control. How would you cope? Where would you go? What would you do? That’s the challenge of the SPENT exercise.
This exercise is going to challenge the way you think about poverty and homelessness. It is interactive. You will need access to a computer to complete it. You can use a computer in the computer lab.
After you’ve completed the online experience, answer the questions below. Your responses MUST be typed. Your answers must be labeled clearly. The “trigger question” that you completed regarding will be added to your grade. Total possible points is 100 points.
