Your research paper will be worth 100 points, and should be about a chemistry-related topic of interest to you. While your topic can focus on a wide range of topics, please be sure that it is not pseudo-science, and that you can find references in the peer-reviewed primary scientific literature. The paper should include a minimum of five sources from the primary literature (peer-reviewed scholarly journals, not including review articles, monographs or books) and a total of at least 10 references from all sources (more is fine). The paper should be presented with standard margins, double-spaced, one space after a period, and use a simple, easy to-read font such as Times New Roman, Century Schoolbook, Courier, etc. In general, a large body of text is easier to read in a serif font such as these, instead of a san-serif font like Arial. In order to cover your topic completely, you should expect to have at least eight pages, plus your references. I would prefer that you include a title page. Do not cite your references as footnotes, they must be cited in the paper and listed in a detailed bibliography.
