Assignment: Write a paper (1300-1500 words) with a thesis statement and argument backed up with evidence from the primary source you have just finished reading, The Epic of the Cid. Your paper will be a response to one of the questions provided, with your answer serving as your thesis statement.
— In this text, the Cid is an ideal knight. What makes him an ideal knight? Focus on one very specific aspect and draw on evidence from throughout the text to support your conclusion. You might consider him as a warrior, as a lord or a vassal, or as a father and husband.
— The Cid is set in the time of the Reconquest and is a warrior. Was he fighting for religion? If not, what was he fighting for? identify one focused answer and support with evidence from throughout the text.
The teacher made me do a REVISION based on this comments: “You have some interesting ideas about the text but I’m not entirely sure what argument you are making. There is no clear thesis that responds to the prompt and the paragraphs go in different directions. You seem to start off responding to prompt 1 and then end by responding to prompt 2. Be clear about that in the thesis and then make sure each paragraph clearly supports the thesis, esp in the topic sentence.”
