Course Paper: One 7-page critical paper is required. Drawing on your response paragraphs, class notes, discussion, and research, you will be expected to write on a specific topic as follows:
1. Choose a theoretical framework which we have discussed this semester–do not use Aristotle’s Poetics or the framework you chose for your Critical Response #2 paper
2. Provide both a historical and social background for the framework (citations needed)
3. Demonstrate the ways in which the framework can be used to discuss and compare The Outsiders, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and The Hunger Games–how does the theoretical framework help to make meaningful readings of each of these young adult novels? How does it offer guidance to make new knowledge or understandings of these texts taken together?
4. Conclusion based on the data from the background and the texts.
5. Four authored secondary sources should be included in addition to the novels and the class notes
Papers should be written in MLA format. The required Works Cited page does not count as one of the 7 pages.
