(I will attach an old midterm of mine from this class so you can see my style of writing and what she wrote me back) This essay is a final for my Sociology of Gender class. I will attach the paper guidelines, but I will also try to sum it up for you here. She is allowing us to pick any topic/question that deals with either the COVID-19 pandemic or any other issue that is relevant to the readings of the semester (which includes embodying gender, gendered bodies at the intersectionality of race and class, bodily labor, neoliberalism – the choice is your as long as it relates to gender and min. 4 readings). I think it might be easier to talk about COVID-19 and gender, but again it is up to you. I will be providing many readings and tell you their topics below.
Any approach can be chosen: can be purely analytical, involve original empirical research, including a review of news articles, in-depth interviews, or ethnographic observations done online (I have no idea how that’s possible, maybe like through observing social media??) or in your neighborhood/home. (if you decide to use observations that are of a home I think it would be important to know that I am Hispanic (Dominican) and a 19 year old girl, so any other details can be made up, don’t really care what you say if it helps you write this paper – IF you choose this method) Autoethnographic approaches are allowed too.
Here are the names of articles I’ll attach and some links you can copy and paste as to (I thought it would be easier for you to pick 4 if I tell you their topics):
