Directions: Students will select their favorite book, song, television show, and movie that is of an interest to them. The student will review each media chosen and analyze the book, song, television show, and movie through two sociological perspectives.
Student must explain each perspective and how the book, song, television show, and movie correspond to each theory chosen. Compare and contrast the theories and how it is relevant to sociology, human’s social interaction, and the changing world around us. The presentation should include the strengths and weaknesses of the sociological perspectives in relation to the book, song, television show, and movie and then the students will submit a four-five-page paper that reflects how two sociological perspectives are exhibited. The paper should include four journal research articles and facts to further elaborate the sociological perspectives within the book, television show, movie, and song that was chosen. The student will also identify common stereotypes or stigmas used in their choice of media and address them as a social analyst and research scientist of the pervasiveness in different media. You need to citeinformation researched in APA or ASA format. The students will practice their view as a social analyst and discuss the book, movie, song, and television show based on the chapters lectured on in the class to show their understanding.
The paper must be at least 4-5 pages (not including title page and reference page). The assignment must be in APA or ASA format with 12-point Times New Roman font, doubles-paced, 1” margin, and at least four peer-reviewed scholarly resources along with your textbook. Using the Writing Center to check for grammar and spelling, sentence structure, and content will assist you to acquiring a higher grade. I will not tolerate plagiarism.
