GUIDELINES:
It should be at least 4 pages – and no more than 5 pages in length of text (APA formatted title page and reference page should be used, but not included in the 4-5 page length)

You should include at least three in-text three citations in the text of your paper and therefore you should also have at least three (3) references for three different scholarly resources which you consulted. (Websites ending in .com are not considered scholarly sources.)

One of the three references should be from a peer-reviewed article that relates to the topic or population of the film you have chosen to use as the focus of your paper.

QUESTIONS:
A. In your paper you should provide brief description of the topic and population addressed by the film you have chosen. This could include descriptive statistics about the topic and population. Be sure to provide appropriate citation of the source/sources you consulted.

B. How does the topic and population discussed in your film relate to concepts of this class.
In particular, you should be thinking about the following concepts we have discussed:
Diversity,
Inclusion –
Privilege – who or what gets more highly valued or raised up in status
Oppression – who or what gets devalued or diminished in status
Intersectionality – what are the key identities that may be intersecting in the population discussed in your film?
Internalized oppression (i.e. internalized racism, sexism, ableism, etc)
Individual vs. institutional forms of oppression ( i.e. one person’s behavior vs. an institution’s behavior through policies and practices)
Are there examples of “single stories” and stereotypes?

C. What new insights, perspectives have you gained or conclusions you have reached about the population or the topic? Is there a theoretical framework that you learned about in your research related to this topic or population? What questions do you find yourself now asking that you did not ask prior to viewing this film or doing the research in the scholarly sources/literature?

D. What are the ways that you think you in your role as 1) a citizen and 2) a future professional you can be an ally or advocate for the population of people discussed in your film. You could research journal articles and news stories to see what services/programs might be available (or lacking) at the state or national level related to your topic and population. You may wish to think about policies/laws that exist (or are lacking) to protect vulnerable population or address the topic of concern in your film.
