Hi there,
. The topic of essay 3 was an analysis of Wilfred Owen’s “Dulce et Decorum” and how the violence of war that Owen witnessed contributed to the war. (Essay attached). I want the 4th essay to be about the social, economical, and psychological affects of WW1.
Here is the prompt:
For the research paper, you’ll place your own observations within the context of other scholarship. In short, you will enter into an academic conversation with others who are interested in your topic, thereby participating in the construction of knowledge. To enter this conversation, you need to follow this process:
Select a topic developed from the essays you wrote in Essay 3. This means Essay 4 will be a revision and expansion of third essay.
Determine which resources address your topic of study. Gather those sources in a way that allows you to hear the various “threads of conversation” taking place within your topic. You will create a working bibliography that includes ten sources, five of which are annotated (MLA) . Your final paper will incorporate at least six outside sources from specialized resources.
At least three of the sources used in your last esssay cannot discuss the short story or poem; rather, they will discuss the topic of your essay. For example, if you choose to write about second generation immigrants’ lives in “Two Kinds” then at least three of your sources should deal with second generation immigrants in general and not discuss Tan’s story.
From these six sources, you need to have at least one book, either from the library or bookstore, or an ebook from Netlibrary. More than likely, you won’t be using the whole book, so try to find a book that has a chapter or two that is useful to you; you’ll cite this source as “a work in an anthology.” You must also have at least three GALILEO sources. The remaining sources may be public Internet sites; however, they must be valid and scholarly. Wikis, blogs, discussion boards, or sources in the style of Cliffs Notes will NOT count, although you can certainly use them to generate ideas.
Refine your topic.
Write the research paper (6-8 pages, double-spaced) that expands our understanding of a particular literary work.
Your primary audience is your class and instructor, and your secondary audience is the scholars who may be interested in your contributions to the literary body of knowledge.
