In Part 1 of the final paper, focus on one country in which you wish to do business, as an intermediary.

For the paper discuss:
1.1 Choose one country in which you wish to focus on working as an intermediary. Explain the reasons why you wish to work in this country
US – I live in US and i want to be working with the players from this country
1.2 Provide an overview of the soccer market in your selected country. Consider the structure of professional soccer, potential opportunities, competition and obstacles you may need to overcome
1.3 Provide an overview of the player market value in terms of salary, transfer fees, oversea player quotas. Analyse the migration of players (in an out) within your chosen country and also consider age, level and nationality
Part 2 – Networking
Interview a scout for a professional football club. Scouts provide a wealth of information and are a great asset to you as an agent. As we mentioned in the course developing relationships with scouts can be very beneficial to your business.
Discuss with them the process of identifying soccer talent and the procedures for getting a player on a team. What type of information do they need (player bio, game tape, etc.)? When should an agent get involved with a young player and also touch on past experiences with agents – the good and the bad!
Students should go to the interview having read the rules and regulations regarding agents in that particular country. Please be knowledgeable of the rules regarding agents and the role they play in the industry. This particularly applies to those students looking to speak with coaches / scouts within the NCAA (USA)
2.1 Provide an overview of the key points discussed during the interview
2.2 What is the most important thing you learnt from the interview and highlight an area in which you personally need to develop
Part 3 – Recruitment
Identify (do not contact) a potential client that you feel you could realistically approach for representation.
3.1 Explain why you believe the player would be a good client. What is his value currently within the market or why he is a potential professional prospect?
3.2 Discuss how you plan to approach the player and outline your recruitment strategy
3.3 Using the template in SMWW Earena Playbook and learning from Week 5, develop a draft representation contract for the potential client based on the following basic terms:
• Two-year contract
• Exclusive
• 5% agency fee
Explain the other areas that need to be amended within the contract.
Part 4 – Promotion & Negotiation
Developing professional promotional materials for a client is important for both the player and the agent. Using the learning from Week 6;
4.1 Develop a professional player profile (CV / Resume / Bio) for the player
4.2 Identify 5 teams that would be a potential good fit for the player and explain your reasoning
4.3 Write a covering letter introducing the player to potential teams
4.4 Research the potential market value of a player selecting one of the teams you identified as a good fit.
Describe and provide reasoning surrounding the players potential salary range, signing bonus, bonuses, yearly options, length of contract and other terms you feel are relevant
