Part 2 – Networking
Interview a scout for a professional football club. Scouts provide a wealth of information and are a great asset to you as an agent. As we mentioned in the course developing relationships with scouts can be very beneficial to your business.
Discuss with them the process of identifying soccer talent and the procedures for getting a player on a team. What type of information do they need (player bio, game tape, etc.)? When should an agent get involved with a young player and also touch on past experiences with agents – the good and the bad!
Students should go to the interview having read the rules and regulations regarding agents in that particular country. Please be knowledgeable of the rules regarding agents and the role they play in the industry. This particularly applies to those students looking to speak with coaches / scouts within the NCAA (USA)
