RIP Pitch Instructions
For the RIP Pitch, you will need to describe your idea for your upcoming RIP project, in the form of a detailed description of WHAT KIND OF TEXT you plan to create.
To write a complete pitch, answer the following:
1. Who is the intended audience for the text you will create? In other words, who is it FOR? Who do you think NEEDS to hear it? Be specific.
2. What will be the genre and medium of the text you will create? In other words. For genre: What kind/style of text do you want to make? And for medium: Where would it ideally be available/published? Again, be specific on both answers.
3. What will be the intended argument and purpose for the text you will create? In other words: What exactly do you want to teach your audience? How do you want to change them/their perspectives/their behavior?
4. Name your three model texts. HOW EXACTLY do you plan to use these texts as models to help you create your own project? What rhetorical elements will you borrow from them? (Note: You DO NOT want to take the actual content or arguments from your models, only elements of their rhetorical strategies.)
REMEMBER: At least one of your model texts should be your PRIMARY model. Meaning you should be basing your RIP project very closely on it: Trying to achieve the same exact medium, genre, audience, and even LENGTH. Having a specific model like this will make your RIP project MUCH easier to do. Your other two models may borrow large or smaller elements for your project.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember that your RIP project must be a completely original work, created by you specifically for this class. In other words, you cannot reuse something you’ve created in the past, for another class or in your spare time–you must create something new.
Please feel free to go back and read the prompt for further specifics on the RIP–in the Canvas “Files” page.
