Assignment: Students are required to write a 4-page response paper based on two of the six PON negotiation scenarios. The purpose of this assignment is twofold: first, students should write about both the process and content issues that emerge in the negotiation; and second, students should try and link negotiation theory to negotiation processes (that is, how can principles and theories we read about and discuss in class be used to understand the negotiation transaction). All papers should be typed, double-spaced, and use a 12-point, Times New Roman type. Students have a great deal of latitude in terms of what they discuss but relevant issues from each scenario must be included. The papers will be graded based on: a) the quality of writing and organization, b) relevance of insights to the negotiation scenario, and c) use of communication/negotiation theory/principles. Each response paper must be at least 4 pages in length (see APA for margins). For papers fewer than four pages, 25% of possible points will be deducted before grading for content and quality.

Following I have attached the scenario instructions for you to read over as well as my negotiation preparation document to help you with your writing. Please use as many as you can, in-text citations from the text book “Spangle, M. L., & Isenhart, M. W. (2003). Negotiation: Communication for Diverse Settings. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications.” I’m aiming towards at least a B grade paper.
