Research Argument Project
10 Source Annotated Bibliography
Proposal & Annotated Bibliography: 15% (averaged together)
Paper Final Draft: 20%
1. The general topic
2. Provide a solid claim: this is the stance or position you will argue and research
3. Research plan: What sources will you utilize? Databases? Videos? Personal interview(s)?
Annotated Bibliography: 10 sources total (10 points per source)
1. Typed (Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double space, 1 inch margins) in the Annotated
Bibliography format (hanging indent)
2. Sources can include: books, news articles (credible), journal articles (preferred),
documentaries (credible), interviews (reliable source), websites, press releases,
government reports and legal documents, etc.
Annotations consist of 3 parts:
1. The source citation – this should be in APA format
2. A paragraph evaluating and summarizing the source: what is the context of the
publication, how does the source treat the subject? Fair or unfairly? Who is the author?
Do they present a valid argument? Is the source/author credible? Why? How so? If you
take word-for-word information, you must quote it.
3. A paragraph and/or bullet points discussing how you may/will use the source. You may
also pull out different quotes from the text that you will use in your essay; this is a very
helpful technique for source – organization.
Rough Draft: There will be NO formal examination of your rough drafts. You will NOT upload
them to D2L, however there will be a place to post questions. Any questions submitted via email
will not be answered.
Questions Due: April 9, submitted to the Discussion Post.

attach your entire Annotated Bibliography with the paragraphs.** General Paper Guidelines

APA layout and guidelines
A variety of citation methods (quotation, block quoting, summary, paraphrase, description of any
image/video – DO NOT include any image within the text)
Bibliography page (Last page of your paper, not included in the page count) – can be different
sources from your Annotated Bibliography.
What is it? As a student of ENGL 1302, the expectation is that you have mastered the art of
rhetoric, Further, because you have also completed a thorough analysis, investigation, and
argument of a particular claim, you should be well-versed in the subject you chose. You
will present a claim to the class (PowerPoint/slide show) and attempt to educate your
audience as well as persuade your audience.
How do I do this? By using compelling and effective ethos, pathos, and logos.
