The COVID-19 pandemic strongly affects industrial activity and traffic, which in turn influence atmospheric and other environmental variables. In their EO project, a course participant may select a world region (e.g. their home country) and an environmental factor that is monitored by EO satellites from space, e.g., industrial gases in the atmosphere as observed by ESA’s Sentinel missions. Using the EO browser tool, the student identifies data products to compare the current state with observations made before the COVID-19 pandemic, produces graphics, discusses the results, and summarizes the project in a report.
