d. Jung’s structure of the psyche, including a definition of archetypes.
e. Jung’s biography, including how his psychoanalysis differs from Freud’s.

Part 4: Pick TWO of the following essays. In each question you should adequately address each question and define all terms or concepts that you use. (25 pts. each for 50 pts.)

1. What does Fromm say are the basic ego or existential needs? Define and explain each of the needs? Also, explain how some of these can be met in better or worse ways? Provide examples of more or less productive or destructive ways these needs can be met. Finally, which need does religion most fulfill and why?

2. Describe and explain Erich Neumann’s Jungian ethics. First, define what he calls the old ethic and why he rejects this approach. Then, define what he means by the new ethic. In your essay, you should use and define the terms: projection, scapegoating, integration, and shadow. Finally, conclude with how Neumann re-describes the love commandment.
