Introduction: The local church cannot grow and survive to become fully established without the
support of the prophetic ministry. Notably, the prophetic ministry cannot be considered as
optional support. This realization follows the Bible’s clear statements on the importance of
prophetic ministry, mainly to a local church (Hvidt, 22). For example, the phrase from
Corinthians that shows how prophecy can be used in building the church states that “Therefore,
my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues” (1 Cor 14:39).

Topic sentence 1: A thriving church acknowledges the prophetic ministry and becomes a
background for prophets to build their ministry.

Supporting evidence: Most Christians in various churches have a genuine prophetic gift, yet
lack the motivation of pursuing it due to previous mistakes (Joyner, 1)

Topic sentence 2: The church is termed as a prophecy to the world, which is a responsibility that needs a prophetic ministry development.

Supporting Evidence: Even though people may not be called in the prophetic ministry office,
the ministry needs to be understood, where the overall church is termed as nation’s prophetic
voice (Virgo,37). We should join hands in serving the spokesman of the lord to the world
(Hamon, 34).

Conclusion: Following the guidelines given in the Bible, particularly in the book of Corinthians,
the prophetic ministry should be a background in building the local church. This is because the
church is used as a prophecy that has its roots in the development of the prophetic ministry.
Besides, a thriving church is backed up by the prophetic ministry that is viewed as a place of
building the ministry of the prophets. This way, the local churched will grow and survive
regardless of the difficulties they encounter.
