Purpose: Meta cognition—or thinking about our thinking—helps our learning “stick” with us longer. The reflections will ask you to consider a few of the ways that you are engaging with the course content and growing in your ongoing development as an academic thinker and writer throughout quarter. Each Reflection is worth around 5% of the course grade.
Answer each of the following questions in a fully developed paragraph, using clear organization and specific examples. So, you should have four paragraphs total. A good response to this reflection will be specific and sincere. I don’t have set expectations about your answers since they concern your personal experience and process, but answer the questions fully and directly (with supporting details and examples) for full credit. While this is not a formal essay, it is a college writing assignment; therefore, your tone and grammar should be appropriate for an academic assignment and you should use MLA visual format.
Question 1: What is something that was interesting or surprising to you about Project #2? (This may be something about the assignment itself, the issues raised in the readings, or about the process of completing your project.)
Question 2: What was your biggest challenge with Project #2? Why? What did you do to address that challenge?
Question 3: Look at the first five of the seven grading criteria from Project #2 (Summary, Thesis, Evidence & Support, Organization & Structure, Style & Tone). What is one criterion that is an area in which you have grown and improved as an academic writer through Project #2? What course activities and materials related to that criterion did you find helpful or thought-provoking? Develop your answer with specific examples and details about how you have improved those particular writing skills/strategies.
Question 4: What is one passage in your Project #2 final draft that you are especially proud of? Include a direct quotation from your final draft and explain why you thought that was particularly effective or significant.
