Minimum Educational Requirements: CDS certification and at least one year of experience working with toddlers.
Preferred Educational Requirement: Associates Degree in Early Childhood or a related field or have completed at least two years of college or university course work in a related field.
Responsibilities include the following: (1) ensure the safety of each child through consistent supervision; (2) create a positive, nurturing classroom climate; (3) plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices and activities to meet the physical, intellectual, and social/emotional needs of the children; (4) maintain regular observation and evaluation of children’s development and progress; (5) interact with children, their parents and coworkers in a respectful manner; 6) must have effective communication skills—both verbal and written; (7) must work well as part of a team.
Physical requirements: (1) must be able to lift at least 40 pounds; (2) must be able to supervise children outdoors in various weather conditions; (3) consistently able to sit on the floor to work with children and be able to reach children to assist on playground equipment.
