Identify specific health, mental health, or behavioral outcome (or constellation of outcomes) of concern, design a developmental preventive intervention to address the target outcome, and propose a research design to evaluate your program’s influence on the target outcome(s). The specific topic, nature of the intervention, and design for the evaluation are up to you. Papers should include a background justification for why the problem merits intervention, what is known and remains to be learned about the etiology, developmental processes/course of the problem, and a conceptual rationale for why the preventive intervention strategy you will employ should decrease the maladaptive and/or enhance positive adaptation/functioning, and what can be learned about development from your study. Be specific about domains of development or mechanisms you are targeting with your preventive intervention and assessing in your evaluation to determine whether your intervention is working. The paper should reflect your learning of material throughout the course. The intervention design should specify the target population, the context in which the intervention will take place, and the timing of the intervention.
