Performing the Peer Review
You will be responsible for providing clear and useful feedback to your peer.
Your feedback should come in the form of a 150-200 words .
Remember, this is the initial draft from your peer. You are not grading this draft. You are helping your peer improve this draft and get ready to submit a revision to the professor.
Here is what your memo should include:
• a one-sentence summary of what the draft is about
• an evaluation statement categorizing the entire draft as “strong,” “satisfactory,” or “needs improvement” and briefly explaining why you provided that evaluation
• a statement highlighting one specific strong quality that names a specific place in the essay (page or paragraph number) where the author made a good choice
o This highlight should come with an explanation about why you think this portion of the essay is strong
• a statement indicating one area of the essay that needs improvement
o This may highlight a specific section that is unclear or needs development OR it may describe information that is missing from the essay
Both the highlight and the area for improvement should focus on the ideas in the essay – not the grammar or mechanics. This is a draft that the author wrote before reaching the editing stage. It is okay to have grammar mistakes at this stage. Focus on the content. Read as though you are the intended audience and try to help the author make the point of the essay as clear as possible.

The WID paper has certain guidelines to be followed while writing the draft. I have attached a file which has the WID paper written by the peer. Based on the below criteria the comment should be provided for the peer.
Writing in the disciplines (WID) involves knowing some very specific writing conventions. This essay is going to ask you to act as an expert in writing in your discipline.
This is an informative essay that you will compose for new grad students in your program.
In it, you will demonstrate the core expectations that readers in your discipline have when they pick up a text.
The essay should include the following (not necessarily in this order):
• A description of the ways of doing and writing in your discipline
• An overview of key genres
• A description of important stylistic issues (citation styles, use of first-person, use of headings, etc.)
• An explanation of the purposes behind the writing done in the discipline.
Every claim you make in the essay should be supported by strong evidence such as a sample text, an interview from a disciplinary practitioner (who is named and described in your essay), or a handbook commonly used within the discipline.
A strong essay will also include references to the reading by Carter and the WID Video was used for a discussion.
