Covid-19, and our response to it, are changing the way that people live their lives. (Did I really need to tell you that?–Captain Obvious) Those changes can help us see how humans respond to social isolation in ways that we could not do otherwise. (You can propose something that isn’t social isolation too.) There are so many things you could study, and if you have something you would like to think and write about, go for it. (I ask that you e-mail me first though just so that we can be sure that it makes sense for this assignment.)
I am going to suggest 4 topics, though you can go “off the board” if something else really makes you think:
How lack of funerals are related grieving rituals, e.g., wakes, affects the way that people grieve and move on from the deaths of loved ones,
How social isolation affects marriages. You could assume that the spouses are forced to live together, or you might look at what happens if they have to live apart,
Importance of hospital visits from family and friends for how patients recover from illness (not necessarily Covid-19) physically and/or mentally,
How domestic violence rates differ between areas that keep liquor stores open as “essential businesses” and those areas that have closed them
Your paper should have 4 sections.

How you would define the intervention and control groups
What data you would like to collect, whether a survey, using public records, or some other form of data collection,
What you think are the benefits and drawbacks of this design.
