Attached you will find the PDF of the nonfiction article, as well as the definitions of the words, for this week.

VOCAB NARRATIVE TASK 1:
Write me a story using these vocabulary words!
Please CAPITALIZE the vocabulary words.
You may only use one vocabulary word max per sentence.
The sentences must not be isolated, random sentences, but contribute to the story.
NEW TO THIS WEEK:
Length: minimum THREE paragraph story! Utilizing THREE different techniques.
Punctuation: please use TWO colons properly in your story utilizing TWO different rules. Review the attached notes on how to properly use a colon (using a colon to separate hours/minutes and/or ratios will not be accepted). Please copy and paste the sentences you are using the colon at the bottom of your submission, and clearly explain what about the sentences indicates your proper colon usage.

See how there is a space above this? That’s what I’m looking for. So that would be paragraph one, and this would be paragraph two.

Note:
Please do not use first person.
What’s first person?
I, me, my, our, etc.

Quote(s): When quoting real people, it’s different than when we are quoting from short stories or novels.

Refer to people by their first and last name, and then for the rest of the paragraph, refer to them just by their last name.
If you use someone’s last name in the same sentence you are quoting them, you don’t actually have to have the parenthesis at the end of the sentence, since you already told your readers who said the quote.

Example:
Christina Gutierrez, Syed’s lawyer exclaims, “Kevin Eurich, the prosecutor, provided you a lawyer for your felony.”
Notice how I use the lawyer’s first and last name, and Adnan’s last name. Because I mention the lawyer’s last name in this sentence, I don’t have to have the parenthesis.

Example:
His lawyer exclaims, “Kevin Eurich, the prosecutor, provided you a lawyer for your felony” (Gutierrez).
Notice how here I don’t use the lawyer’s name before the quote, so to make sure readers know who I’m referring to, I have the name in parenthesis at the end of the sentence.
