Description
In this course two book reports will be required. The reports should each be 4-6 pages, typed, double-spaced. They should be written in prose (paragraphs, complete sentences, etc. and not in an outline format). The reports should include the following: -A detailed summarization of the book -Highlights or significant information discussed in the work -Quality of the writing and book as a whole -Your impression and overall enjoyment of the work The books chosen must be on a topic related to popular music. Acceptable choices would include: -A biography on a band, artist or significant person in the history of popular music (manager, producer, promoter, etc.). -A history on the development of a musical style. For example, a book focused on the history of punk music. -A book on the cultural influence of popular music during a certain time period. For example, a work which highlights the impact of psychedelic music on the American counterculture of the 1960s. Unacceptable choices would include: -A book not aimed at adult/college level readers. For example, a promotional pamphlet written for young fans of a pop artist. -A book primarily consisting of pictures of an artist or band. -Encyclopedia-styled works. For example, The Encyclopedia of the Electric Guitar would not be acceptable.
