Though I’ve canceled the working bibliography for the RIP, you are still required to have a minimum of three sources cited in your RIP essay. The source requirements for this essay are meant to give you the opportunity to show the sources you used when crafting your project.

Typically, students find sources that provide information on the context of their project and the genre of their project most useful. We are still at an early age, but the sooner you begin researching the better. As such….:

Please use your preferred search engine and/or UCI library resources to find two credible sources you may use for your RIP (“may” since we are obviously early on and things may change). Please provide a full MLA citation for the two sources you find before annotating it in 3-4 sentences.

Here are directions for how to annotate, taken directly from PAGE 242: AGWR:

After you’ve evaluated a source and determined that you will find it useful
for your project, write an annotation of the source. An annotation refines
the information you put together in the source evaluation and reframes it by
both summarizing the source and articulating how you are using it for your
own argumentative purposes.

ANNOTATE your chosen sources by answering these questions in a few sentences (total, not each):

• Who are the author and publisher? What authority does the author
have on this topic, and what is the publisher’s purpose in publishing
this information?

• What is the genre of the source? How does the genre influence how you
will use the source and the information it gives you?

• What kinds of evidence does the source draw on? What genres of
sources does it use?

• When was the source published? Is this information current, a useful
historical artifact, or simply out-of-date?

• How is the source relevant to your project and does it help to illus-
trate the importance and current urgency of my topic or my central
problem?
