Marriage in the family paper sociology

Review the course materials. Choose one social issue or topic that we discussed in this course that you were most interested in. (Alternatively, you can choose your topic from the chapters of the textbook that we didn’t cover in class.) Please make sure to narrow the issue or topic as specifically as possible. Examples of social issues or topics include access to higher education by family background, poverty among single-mother households, gender socialization, balancing career and family, the socio-economic difference in parenting, child abuse, household income gap by race, domestic violence, and abuse of elder family members. Briefly summarize the issue by answering the following questions.
a) How does the issue make society dysfunctional? Why is it a problem? (Dis-cuss your answer in the first paragraph.) ( 1 point)
b) What did you learn about the issue or topic from this course or the chapter of the textbook? (Discuss your answer in the second paragraph.) ( 1 point)
c) Which social group(s) are most likely to be affected by the issue? Why? (Discuss your answer in the third paragraph.) ( 1 point)
2. Find one bill related to the issue that is currently being discussed by Congress, the New York State, or the Suffolk County Legislature. (If you are living outside New York or can’t find an appropriate bill you can present a bill discussed at another local government.)

b) How would the bill expect to solve or reduce the targeted issue? ( 1 point)
c) Which party is proposing the bill? What organization is supporting the bill if any? ( 1 point)

4. In your fifth paragraph, discuss the following questions.
a) Is this bill based on functionalism or conflict theory? Why? ( 1 point)
b) Which social group(s) are most likely to be affected by this bill? ( 1 point)
c) Why do some oppose this bill? Are there any cons? ( 1 point)
