events. Analyze your document and determine how your author wants the reader to see the

Appeals handout. Are their arguments / approaches effective?

When you provide and explain the evidence, you should paraphrase and discuss
the document significantly more than you quote.
Do not direct quote informational material. If a paraphrase is just as effective as
the original words, paraphrase. keep your direct quote usage to one sentence (roughly 10 words
or fewer) quote or two short partial sentence length quotes that add up to no
more than 10 words.
Direct quotes do not provide evidence and analysis on their own. You must
explain how and why the direct quote supports the argument you are making.
For any direct quote you use, you must provide an analysis that does not include
paraphrasing the direct quote.
All direct quotes must have a citation. For Activity 8.2, use this modified in-text
format: (Author or short title, pg#).
