Leadership Self-Reflections & Career Development Plan
The purpose of this paper is to complete several self-reflections found in the course textbook, Management, 13th Edition, by Schermerhorn, interpret the results and create your development plan.
Completing the self-reflections will help you to get to know yourself better and how you interact with others. The reflections will help you to focus on what is important to you, your likes and dislikes and more. When interpreting the results both individually and then overall, they will assist you in identifying career paths that may be a better fit for you. Keep an open mind and don’t over analyze the questions when taking the assessments. There is no right or wrong answer. This is all about you, who you are and what may be a good career choice for you.
There is a 3-Step process including 1) Self-Assessment, 2) Overall Findings and 3) Development Plan. The grading of this assignment is about the quality of your work, not quantity. Please take the assignment seriously and provide thoughtful, insightful interpretation of your results and provide realistic actions that you could personally commit to do for your development going forward.
STEP 1: SELF-ASSESSMENT
Directions: at the end of each chapter, there is a section called “Reflect on the Self-Assessment.” Complete the self-assessments for only the chapters listed below and provide a summary for each assessment that includes:
A. Your score(s) and/or ranking(s) as appropriate
B. Your interpretation of the results
Chapter 14, Least-Preferred Co-Worker Scale
Chapter 15, Self-Monitoring
Chapter 17, Team Leader Skills
Chapter 18, Conflict Management Strategies

STEP 2: OVERALL FINDINGS
Directions: based upon the findings and your interpretation of the four (4) assessments in Step 1, answer the following questions:
1. What are you most surprised to discover about yourself? Why?
2. What are you least surprised to discover about yourself? Why?
3. Do you have a clearer picture of whether or not you are interested in becoming a Manager of people? Why?
4. List and rank (#1 being your top choice) the top three careers you are/may be interested in pursuing. Why?
STEP 3: DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Directions: based upon your #1 choice for a career answered in #4 of Step 2 above, complete the following:
1. List both the critical Technical Knowledge and Competencies (“soft” skills on how you get work done, e.g. teaming, leadership, communication, analytical or critical thinking skills, etc.) that you think are needed to be successful in this career.
2. For each of the Technical Knowledge and Competencies listed in 1), use the following scale to rate yourself on your current level of knowledge/capability:
(S) = Strong, I am very confident with my knowledge or competency capability.
(G) = Good, I am somewhat confident with my knowledge or competency capability but have room to learn/grow.
(W) = Weak, I really need to learn/grow in this area.
3. For each of the items rated as (G) and (W) in 2) above, create one (1) short-term (next 6-12 months) and one (1) long-term (next 24-36 months) action you commit to take to increase your knowledge or improve your competency.

o Papers should be single spaced, 12-point font with 1-inch margins.
o Ensure that you clearly address A., B1., B2., and B3. above.
