Assignment 1: Objects and Classes Objects and classes are the bread and butter of Java programming. In fact, you can use Java classes to define a bread class and a butter class, and you can instantiate a wheat bread object and apply an instance of unsalted butter on that wheat bread. (Remember to create a knife object to more easily spread that butter on your bread!). Chapter 6 of your textbook steps you through the process of creating classes and using a class constructor to create objects of that class. You will put your knowledge of objects and classes to work in this chapter’s exercises on MyProgrammingLab, and in your initial programming project that you begin during this week. After you finish reading Chapter 6, test your comprehension of the material by completing all of the theMyProgrammingLab problems for Chapter 6, as well as Programming Projects 71112 and 71113. Assignment 2: Additional Object-Oriented Concepts Many real-world problems involve numbers, and you have developed skills for storing, accessing, and operating on integers and real numbers in Java. But, there is a multitude of situations that require communication with a human user—and we humans are far better equipped to understand words and sentences. Java provides a String class that allows you to create strings of characters, along with methods for initializing and parsing strings. After you finish reading Chapter 8, test your comprehension of the material by completing all of the MyProgrammingLab problems for Chapter 8, as well as Programming Projects 71118 and 71119.
