Drawing from Nelson George’s argument that “R&B music has atrophied” (p. xxii), would you
agree or disagree when considering todays US popular music market? If you agree, provide a
philosophical response that traces the historical development of R&B and/or its cause of death as
asserted by George. Compare this artist or group to an R&B act from the 1940s through the 1990s, whoserves as a template for the contemporary artist you selected. One approach here would be to
