Description
“discuss how your reading of the texts on our syllabus before and during the pandemic helped you to understand the world better than before you started this class. Choose one of our novels and a short story or one of our novels and a poem to explain how the texts have helped you to understand our world better. You should also use at least two external resources for your illustration. For this purpose, both the Chinua Achebe’s and the Washington Williams’s essays we read earlier in the semester will qualify. There are also many online critical resources on our texts. If you are unable to locate the ones that can help you analyze the texts you want to write on, please let us know.” 1) Choose Things Fall Apart or Heart of Darkness and a poem from the syllabus to explain how these texts have helped you understand the world better. 2) Come up with a good, strong thesis that makes a strong connection between your texts and why you believe they’ve helped you understand the world better (in a COVID context or not). 2) Find two external sources that are not from wikipedia (honestly the two texts professor Alabi posted from Chinua Achebe and the Washington William’s essay) are an easy outside source to cite. Otherwise, make sure it’s a scholarly source and has something to do with either your poem or your chosen novel. You still have access to the library’s database so go and do research and find an article that helps you analyze your poem and novel if you don’t like the Achebe and Williams article. 3) MLA citations. Look up how to do them and make sure you use in-text MLA citation for the body of your paper as well as a Works Cited page at the end listing your external sources. 4) Be coherent, proofread your paper, and make sure meets the page count. The 5th page can be the works cited. 5)Don’t plagiarize. I want you to do well. Don’t do it.
