How the book differs from the film

Second: Discuss a movie you have seen that falls into the genre category of a historical docudrama. Talk about how accurate the movie was related to any actual events that may have occurred. Mention a little about the film’s production as in how the film was shot including who was involved in the production of the film. Do some research and find some information on how the film was perceived by the viewing public and or how people may have been affected by it. Comment also about what any film critics had to say about the film? (regarding its accuracy)

Third: Select a movie that has at least two versions or put another way an original movie that was re-made usually a number of years later. Compare the two films considering the various film production techniques/aspects as presented in our textbook. Mention some particulars about films such as whether or not the stories differ and how. Were the actors similar? How different were the special effects, the musical score, etc? Remember we’re not talking about a film sequel here we’re talking about an actual remake of some original film. It would be helpful to examine what film critics thought of the remake as well in your paper.

Paper content/parameters – First you will need to provide a brief summary of what the movie is about in several paragraphs. Since you’re commenting about a movie you will want to describe visually how the movie was shot taking into account parameters we’ve read about and seen in class films. Write a paper that is at least 2 or maybe 3 pages in length (or however long you feel you need). At the top of your paper use the film title as your paper title. Mechanically your paper should be double-spaced, in Times New Roman font and size 12 (<<< like this). Please have your name, Film Appreciation I O01C, and the date in the upper left-hand corner of your paper. Please save your paper as an MS Word document.

If you have any questions or are not sure if a particular film is appropriate for this assignment please communicate with me about that. Plan your time accordingly so you’re able to work on this assignment well before the due date. Be sure and watch the movie you choose before you begin working on your paper.

Your paper should have two or three citations at the end. For example, you should cite any books or electronic sources you found and used for critic’s comments. Be sure to cite the sources you used at the end of your paper in either MLA or APA format. Remember you are expected to have several sources/citations – at least two. You’ll find below the 2nd paper assignment folder at the bottom of the week’s assignments, a link to an MLA Citation Guide from Purdue OWL to assist you in properly citing your sources.
