How safe and effective is nuclear power? or Should there be a Universal Basic Income?

Choose one of the topics that you believe that you can do a better research paper on. Either:
1. How safe and effective is nuclear power?
2. Should there be a Universal Basic Income?

A first draft of 2 pages or more must be uploaded by the 3rd of June 2020.

You must have a minimum of 4 sources. At least two of them should be later than 2018.

This research paper is an argumentative, point of view paper, not a fact-gathering paper, so no matter how many facts you find, you must organize and must present them in a way that argues your point of view on the topic.

Criteria for Written Work:
1. The entire paper works to develop a thesis, that is, it has unity: thesis early, no rambling.
2. The thesis is supported throughout by specific arguments and evidence.
3. The quality of thought is high level. If research is done, it is university level.
4. Paragraphs are used effectively to develop each stage of discussion.
5. Transitional words, phrases, and sentences are employed to show rhetorical category of ideas.
6. Attention is given to effective, appropriate and varied word choice.
7. Correct MLA citation is used. Paraphrases and quotations are used skillfully.
8. The paper is virtually free of grammatical and mechanical errors.
9. The paper is well proofread and edited.
10. NO plagiarism.
11. Topic sentence in each paragraph.

To make your argument professional, your paper must take two or three arguments of the other side, and show why these arguments may be valid, but not as strong as yours.

The Works Cited page is NOT included in the length.

Your citations in the body should be easily findable in the Works Cited. This means whatever the first word in the parentheses in the body is, that word MUST be the first word in the citation in the Works Cited. using standard MLA format, even if you have to change the format the various format providers give you.

Citation should be at the end in the Work Cited page AND in the body.

No cover page is needed.

The paper should be moderately scientific.

A checklist is provided as a file. These must be met.

Clearly label sections in your paper. The way you choose depends on your paper and organization. One obvious way is:
Introduction
Introduction and thesis
Background
Fact or generalization 1 – but write the fact in words that apply to your paper; don’t call it “Fact 1”
Fact or generalization 2 … etc…
Conclusion

Citation is an important part of the grade, it must be in MLA format.
