How Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Stories Provide a Critique of Transcendentalism

I want to look at the ideas and themes presented in Nathaniel Hawthornes stories such as isolation and its relation to transcendentalism. To do this, look at Hawthorne’s twice-told tales: “The Ministers Black Veil” and “Young Goodman Brown” and “My Kinsman, Major Molineux”. All tales intertwine religion and nature that is in respect to overall happiness and essentially the truth of sin causes isolation of the characters. Theres also an aspect of loss of innocence when realizing the truth in the stories. These things could be an example in Hawthorne’s writing that seems to critique transcendentalism. Or choose other aspect of transcendentalism to explore in conjunction with Hawthornes ideas presented in the three tales above. Please also use other scholarly sources or critiques of Hawthorne to add as well. Maybe even an introduction on some research of Hawthorne and his feelings about transcendentalism then go into explaining the three stories.
