Your research proposal, which will eventually be a paper, will contain the following sections:
• Title
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Abstract
abstract (at least 300 – 500 words)
An abstract is a summary of your entire research project complete with the research question, theoretical perspective, methods, results, and conclusions. Even though you have not yet completed your project, you can still begin to construct a general summary. For findings and conclusions, you can indicate what outcomes you anticipate from your project.
Please refer to the PVAMU Research Symposium Abstract Guidelines to aid in writing your abstract: http://www.pvamu.edu/cojjp/wp-content/uploads/sites/31/abstract_guidelines.pdf
(Slides 2 – 4 and 11 are especially helpful in providing guidelines and a sample abstract.)
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Introduction
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Literature Review (of at least 8 academic sources)
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Gap in the Literature/Development of Research Question
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Methodology
The methodology section is one of the most important sections of your research project. This section will describe what you plan to accomplish and how you are going to do it. The methods section should contain the following:
•Population (who will you be studying, ex: age, race, social class, males, females, college students, etc.)
• Sample (of the population you intend to study, ex: college students @ PV)
• Data Collection- describe the tools and methods you will use to collect information and identify the independent and dependent variables (Ex variable: media use)
o Tools and Methods: participant observation, content analysis, one-on-one interviews, group interviews, surveys, historical/comparative, secondary data analysis
• Data Analysis- how will you analyze the data? Will you use a software program like SPSS, will you transcribe and code the interviews in order to run a regression analysis, etc.)
• Copy of the survey and/or interview questions or secondary data source you plan to utilize
• Any limitations of your chosen method(s)?
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Expected Results
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
• Conclusion
Some points that I already randomly thought of are:
The history of social media goes back to the mid-90s and the rise of social media started in the early 2000s with Myspace and LinkedIn, a social media network for professionals.
Being that digital marketing is now replacing the traditional route; research was conducted and indicated that many companies now have started reverting to the digital world to increase sales, receive global brand exposure and save them money because it is cheaper than traditional marketing techniques.
Maybe also look at the negative impacts of businesses reverting to social media
as well as everyone not being equipped with the latest technology which really is what halts businesses from being 100% online due to the companies knowing their consumers as well as cybersecurity
Another point could also be about how online sales have spiked online with the coronavirus.
Talk about how businesses are reverting to online because of the virus.
How maybe the coronavirus has changed the retail business game and restaurants offering to go services more because of it.
The coronavirus does and doesn’t have anything to do with my paper. It does because along of businesses have gone online now I think
If you can come up with a better research question I would like that too. my class is about the role in the media so everything has to refer back to the media or types of media affecting different things of society. Maybe we can even talk about how the coronavirus effects of the media and everything across the nation. It just has to be proposed as a research question.
You have the free will to take this paper where you want to go as long as the question of the paper (the topic) has to do something with the media. If you have a better question or angle you want the essay about please go for it
My professor has said the paper has to be less than 17% plagiarism.
Also, each part of my paper has to be easy to decipher.
I’m just typing everything that comes to mind to help spark thought.
