History in the 20th century final

Choose a source. This is not a research paper. It is a critical paper regarding one source that deal with World History in the 20th Century. It should be 1200 words long. I should also like to note that given that libraries are closed it will be hard to get books and perhaps hard to get recent articles (however you can find many on Jstore). Many of the recommended sources on the syllabus are books. It may perhaps be easier to use a film. One way to go is to use a feature film. If you want to explore technology 2001 Space Odyssey. Or, if I you want to look at WWII, Saving Private Ryan might be good (anything, actually by these two film-makers, Kubrick or Spielberg might work).
The other way you might want to go is documentaries. Three that come to mind are Manifest Destiny: Making the World Safe for Democracy, The Pbs Kennedy documentary part two, and Berkeley in the Sixties.

First break down or analyze the main theme or message. try to make this into one sentence-two at most.
Second how does the book or the film support that message i.e. Fukuyama says democracy should be spread around the world not only bc American ideas are best but bc they are perfect and cannot be improved upon. To support this he says American liberal democracy vanquished monarchy, communism and fascism. here you want to use the skill of synthesis or bringing things together.
Lastly, you want to step back from the author or film-maker and critique. Here you want to ask yourself the question, did the book or film persuade me. If yes what examples from it were most persuasive. if not what examples were least convincing. This should be 300-400 word, so your critique is about 1/3 of the paper.
