This assignment should be following all guidelines for MLA 8. With all sources cited accordingly with the author, and page number if there is one. The 6-page paper is based on one prompt, I will give you three prompt options to choose from. PLEASE PICK ONE to be the basis of this paper.
Colonial Life
OPTION 1– Evaluate the influence of two of the following on colonial
Society in the British colonies of North America;
Puritanism, the Enlightenment, the First Great
Awakening.
The struggle for the continent
OPTION 2 — Evaluate the extent to which the Seven Years’ War
(French & Indian War, 1754 – 1763) marked a turning point in American relations with Great Britain, analyzing what changed and what stayed the same from the period before the war to the period after it.
Articles of Confederation – “The Critical Period”
OPTION 3 — Analyze the reasons for both the successes and failures
of the government under the Articles of Confederation
(1781 – 1789).
After you have chosen ONE OPTION, you must formulate a 6-page essay that answers ALL parts of the prompt accurately. Choose one question and respond with a well organized
comprehensive essay. Your essay response should include a Basic Statement of Position in
the introduction followed by the body of the paper which should focus
on historical examples in support of the Basic Statement of Position. The essay response
should finish up with a formal conclusion that returns to and summarizes the Basic Statement of Position. The basic statement of position is much like a thesis statement at the end of the introduction paragraph — however, the basic statement of positon should encapsulate your full position/answer to the prompt. UNDERLINE the basic statement of position
The essay should have a proper organization, is circular all throughout, and goes back to your basic statement of position, in an overall structured manner.
The essay paper should incorporate a diverse list of sources that answer the one prompt chosen. AT LEAST 3-4 Sources should be used.
The one MANDATORY SOURCE YOU MUST USE is The Unfinished Nation; A Concise History of the American People by Alan Brinkley (You have access to this) OR The Long, Bitter Trail by Anthony Wallace (attached as file)
You MUST use one or the other, or both if you wish
Besides the mandatory source, you MUST find another 2-3 SCHOLARLY SOURCES to use on your own to help you support the prompt and your own words. REMEMBER must be DIVERSITY of sources
Please use quotes/evidence from the diverse sources to make your essay strong and supported
A works cited page at the end of the 6 pages must be included. (MLA FORMAT)
Please refer to the rubric for this paper that I uploaded as a file. Follow the rubric accordingly.
