You will conduct research on a shipping related topic that you select (to be approved by the instructor) and write a paper summarizing your findings. Your topic has to be related to what we discussed in class. But it has to complement what we have learned in class. For example, it can be on the Baltic exchange, vessel lay-up, hull fouling, Panama Canal tolls, Suez Canal tolls etc. Topics are approved on a first come first served basis. Your grade on the written paper will be based upon the quality of its contents, organization and writing. The length of the paper is 8 pages long, with a maximum of 2 pages of charts/ figures. The paper should be double-spaced, one-inch margin around, and typed, use Times New Roman 12 as the font. Use at least 5 different references. The first page of your paper is the cover sheet that shows your name, class title, and the semester. The cover page does not count towards the page limit.
