This should include NOT a Works Cited list, but instead the final draft of your Annotated Bibliography, as described below.
Note that the total number of sources you should CITE in your CP (i.e. the total number of sources you should refer to in the body of your paper, either through parenthetical citation or integration into the sentence (“Ravitch writes . . .”) remains the same from the prompt: Cite a minimum of 6 to 8 total sources, 4 of which should be scholarly (with Ravitch counting as one scholarly source).
However, the annotated bibliography (AB) is a list of all the books, articles, and other documents that have contributed to your understanding of your CP (and later your AP) research topics–even sources you don’t cite in those papers. The AB should follow MLA format for a Works Cited, except that most* citations are followed by source evaluations (4-part or 7-part) that inform the reader of the content, credibility and relevance of each source. ABs are usually double spaced, but please single space this one for my convenience. If you’re wondering what this should look like, here is a sample, 3-entry AB.
The annotated bibliography is mandatory, and your final grade for the CP will reflect not only the quality of your final draft, but also the quality of your annotated bibliography.
How Many Sources? In total, the AB for the CP should include at least ten (10) sources. Your sources for graphic evidence (i.e. pictures, graphs) DO count.
*How Many Annotations? The AB must include a minimum of six (6) annotations, which you’ve already done. Please revise the “relevance” portion of the annotations to reflect how you did or didn’t end up using the source in the final draft of your CP (because that has likely changed since you first found the source).
Note: CP Final draft must also be submitted to turnitin. Every student should receive a link to join our class on turnitin soon (assuming that you use your UCI email). Please submit the same version to turnitin as the version you submit to Canvas. Optimally (and this should be the least hassle for you) you should just turn the paper in to Canvas and Turnitin at the same time, but if there are any technical issues you have until Sunday to submit the CP to Turnitin.
