Five questions, each worth 20 points. 5 hours to complete.
As with all other assignments this semester, these questions are designed to encourage you to write detailed answers applying the philosophical concepts we have been learning. Those who do not apply the ethical theories to the questions will not do well. Those that show they understand each of the theories and how they apply if life (and to the questions) will do well.
****The best answers will specifically mention which theory you are applying. Then you will explain that theory so I can see that you understand it and that you are using it properly. Then you will show, in detail, how that theory helps you answer the question you are working on. This should take at least one fully-developed paragraph, or maybe 100-150 words or more.****
Once you open the exam and begin, you will have 300 minute (5 hours) to complete it. I think it should take a well-prepared student about 60 minutes to complete. If you are done much sooner than that, you probably have not spent enough time writing out the details of your answer. If you require much more than that, you likely have not spent enough time preparing.
The exam is set up to allow only one attempt, so once you begin it, you must complete it within the 300 minutes.
Review your notes and our weekly videos to be sure you can accurately explain each of these ideas. Think through a number of examples to be sure you can apply these modes of thinking to various situations.
A word of advice: the best answers will be ones that are fully detailed and that provide examples that demonstrate to me that you fully understand the concepts you are writing about. Examples are key. So is specific language that lets me know that you understand which theory you are applying.
