You can choose any of the writing assignments you did in this course to revise/improve for the final portfolio, as long as the total page count of these improved writing assignments equals at least four. For example, you could choose to improve/revise your persuasive essay only, as long as the improved version is at least four full pages, as this student did. Or, you could choose two different writing assignments, as long as together, they are at least four full pages, as this student did. Or, you could revise three smaller assignments that together are at least four pages, as this student did. (These linked student examples are also in a folder called “Final Portfolio Student Examples” in the Unit 5 Resources section.) All four pages of writing should demonstrate careful consideration of global revision and local revision (see “What Is Revision?” and “Editing and Tightening – Local Revision,” which are also in the Unit 5 Resources section, for lots of information about global and local revision). For 100 points, this final portfolio should represent your very best work! In addition to your revised writing, your portfolio must include a substantial final reflection letter (explained below), and a cover page for the portfolio (see the guidelines below). If sources are used in any of your writing, be sure to incorporate them effectively and in MLA format. Your final portfolio MUST be submitted on Moodle by 11:59 PM on Friday, May 15th. *** Late portfolios will not be accepted!!! Technology failure is not an excuse for late work – especially not when it comes to a final portfolio! Turn it in early!!! ***

Here is a checklist for what needs to be in this portfolio:

Portfolio cover page (explained below in “Formatting Guidelines”)
Final, revised, proofread, edited, and polished writing (four pages or more)
Final Portfolio Reflection Letter (explained below)
*** Please upload your portfolio as a Microsoft Word document with all the above components in the checklist, starting with the cover page, then the revised essays, and then the reflection letter. If you are using sources in any of your essays, include the Works Cited page at the end of each essay in which sources are used. All final portfolio writing should adhere to the following guidelines:

Formatting guidelines:

Cover page (for the whole portfolio) should be centered and include the words “Final Portfolio,” the course number and section, and your name. The rest of the writing in the portfolio should follow this format:

Double Spaced
12 Point Font (Times New Roman)
One Inch Margins on all sides
No extra spaces at the tops of essays or in between paragraphs
