Homework 1 – Web research and abstract

1. A topic will be assigned from the list of “Topics in IT” list in Blackboard.
2. Research your topic using the Web (i.e. Google).
3. Find 3 web sites that are relevant to your topic. Read and bookmark the web sites.
4. Prepare a References page in MS-Word for these 3 web sites using the APA formatting.
5. Write a 100-word Abstract for your topic. Summarize the key points of your topic, including your understanding of the topic. Do not cite any sources in the abstract.
6. Abstract should be Times New Roman, Double-spaces, 12 point font, 1” margins.

1. Create references page
• Using the 3 references you found from your web research (Homework 1) and the 2 references you found from your library database research (Lab 5), prepare a references page for the final project in APA format. The references page should have 5 references in total and should be in alphabetical order with hanging indents.

2. Create outline for the paper.
• After reading your reference articles, prepare an outline for the final paper. The outline should not be in essay format but in outline format using Numbering Bullet styles. It should include your thesis, supporting details, and summary. The outline should be no longer than one page.
