For clarification – I want you to look at three different sources and write on three different groups. You will explain and give a final overview discussion on you reseach and findings. You will note the appendix “on points” is Appendix B, which proposes a way to use the points system (thought to be objective) to determine whether someone is a gang member for penalty enhancement purposes. You should be able to, for example, watch a movie like American Me (about prison gangs) and “score” one of the characters using the information in the appendix. You must score and write a substantial discussion post for this assignment. This discussion question is a shortened version of the module 8 assignment. You will discuss the findings of your assignment in a shorten version posted in the discussion module 8 and then expand on your findings to develop your paper due for a class assignment in module 8.

Rank and Score Three Gangs with Three Sources
The Bloods
Newspaper: This source followed Kellie Star as she served for the government whilst being a gang member. She decided to help the government after being attacked twice by members of the Bloods gang. As an important figure in the gang, she was able to provide a lot of insider information. Her point total added up to a total of 34.
Court Case: This case followed Keairus Wilson and Rondarius Williamson and their offenses as gang members which involved three murderers, racketeering offenses, and firearms offenses. Their point total added up to 18 each.
Documentary: This film followed a few members named Larry Meyers, Tykendrick Williamson, and Brandon Richardson with their lives as Bloods members in Columbia North Carolina. Their point total added up to 53 each.
The Mexican Cartel
Newspaper: This source depicts a group of unidentified cartel members ominously warning Juarez about the threat of upcoming violence that is shown through a series of photos as they are armed and masked. Counting the group as a single member, their point tally adds up to 34.
Court Case: This court case follows Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, the infamous drug lord known as “El Chapo” as he faces life in prison. His point tally adds up to 44.
Movie: In the film Sicario, FBI agent Kate Macer joins a United States government task force of an unknown origin to capture Manuel Diaz, who is a prime member of the Sonora Cartel, and is responsible for the death of Kate’s squad members at the start of the film. His point tally reaches 25.
Pagan Motorcycle Club
Newspaper: The article covers a report by the New Jersey police after chasing an armed Pagan member by the name of Larry M. Oritz after eluding police where he was eventually found after crashing. His total adds up to 17.
Court Case: John “Egyptian” Kachbalian is a retired member of the Pagans Motorcycle Gang where he also served as a renowned leader. John has since been incarcerated, where he has been charged with witness tampering, and if convicted will result in a 20 year add on to his sentence. John’s total climbs to 31.
TV Show: The Sons of Anarchy follows Jackson “Jax” Teller (portrayed by Charlie Hunnam) as a member of the fictional SAMCRO, or Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original. The show surrounds his dealings with the gang and its relationship with law enforcement. Many of the gang’s activities mirror real-life MCs, with most MCs generally having the same background in criminal activity. Jax’s point total adds up to a high score of 59.
Final- closing: Discussion on your findings where you decide the impact and consider issues with these organized crime groups.
