Discussion 4: Medicaid & Medicare

Please read and watch the included materials regarding Medicaid/Medicare. Then post your initial response to the following questions:

1. Trevor is a 5 year old boy from a low income family. He needs to be vaccinated to attend a public school next year. Would Medicare or Medicaid cover this expense? Explain your reasoning.

2. As a young, healthy, college student, do you find it difficult to contribute to the Medicaid and Medicare tax fund, seeing as though it does not pertain to your personal health?

3. Do you believe that the states should decide on the same Medicaid guidelines of eligibility, so that the guidelines are unanimous nationwide? For example…What if someone does not meet the income eligibility criteria for Medicaid in their state, but they would in a different state? Do we deny them access to healthcare? Or do we make an exception?
