1) For this question, you need to go back to Week 3 and the webcast “Definitions of Community” to focus on Frida Furman’s theory about “Unintentional Communities.” After providing a detailed introduction to this theory, you need to apply two clear and detailed examples from any of the course materials (week 2-6). The examples do not have to fit with all of the details of her theory, but you must make a solid argument for why unintentional communities theory can be applied.

2) In Hogsden and Poulter’s article titled, “ “The real other? Museum objects in digital contact networks,” (Week 5) they elaborate on James Clifford’s theory about “contact zones” in physical museums to coin the term “contact networks.” For these scholars, “contact networks” well describes the complex nature of relationships and relations of power inherent to digital, online museums. In your own words, first explain the basics of Clifford’s theory. Then, explain three of the main points that Hogsden and Poulter make in an effort to initiate a conversation about “contact networks” in relation to digital museums. The representation of objects is key.
